It’s so much fun to be a guest here on Kayla’s blog. Many thanks to Kayla for giving me the opportunity to share a few thoughts about what I’m grateful for. Of course, I’m the most grateful for the people in my life, but I also feel a lot of gratitude for some of the material things in my life. As far as objects go, I can’t think of anything that brings me as much joy as my trusty camera. I actually use several cameras (a point-and-shoot Sony Cybershot, an iPhone camera, and a Nikon D90) and every one of them makes me equally happy. Any camera gives me the opportunity to collect pieces of my life to always keep with me as special treasures.
When I encounter an incredible scene like the steam rising off this hot spring pond on a cold morning, I can snap it up with my camera and actually take it with me as a preserved moment in time.

Golden mornings in early autumn are fleeting, but they last indefinitely when I use my camera to capture them.

While I’ve only spent a few days out of my life in the presence of the geysers and steampots of West Yellowstone, my camera gifts me with those images any time I want to revisit them.

There have been times in my life when I have wanted to stop and just take it all in. I find myself longing to stop the clock just for a few minutes and to soak it all in. Time keeps going though, and that special moment marches on as well. Thanks to the technology of a camera, I can take that special moment every time I view the resulting photograph.

I’m lucky to have seen some beautiful places in my life. I remember my gratitude for these experiences because of the pictures I take with my camera.

Life moves pretty fast these days, but I’m going to aim my camera at it and slow it down a bit.

And when I count my blessings, I will definitely put my camera toward the top of the list!
