Hi Kayla! I’ve skipped ahead a bit and have been watching the videos before starting the actual importing, converting and keywording process to sort of see what’s involved and I have a question -
would it be easier to convert the .png files to .tif BEFORE we start organizing into Designer and Kit name so that we don’t have to go through all the moving and deleting after we import? As you say in the video, it IS a lot of work to do so I was just thinking if I could save myself some time up front instead of moving stuff around twice….or is it 6 in one, half dozen in the other?

I’ve never tried it that way, but you might do so with a few files and see if it works better for your workflow.
Just make sure you have a backup before you get started!

The bad news is, I seemed to have too many copies and felt like I needed to consolidate. Ooops!
I was just happily “cleaning up” some of my folders as I thought I understood it, and went to check things out on LR…YIKES!!! I now have little question marks on multiple category files and have had a mini heart attack! Obviously I accidentally deleted things from my original hard drive folder instead of my LR Import folder (not enough coffee?? Oh my!).
I think I misunderstood the big picture and had planned to keep only one master backup of all my digi scrap supplies on my external hard drive (which I have).
My question is this–should I just finish my cleanup, moving everything to that external hard drive and then start from scratch with importing everything into LR?
Or is there something else I should try?
The good news is, I know I have everything.
I hope this makes sense. And THANK YOU in advance for your tutorials and any help you can provide me! The tutorials are great, it’s obviously operator error here.

OK–I tried copying the files back over into my originals folder and my little question marks disappeared. HOOORAY!!!!! Oh, my stars. WHAT a relief!
I think I have a handle on it now. Whew!

So grateful you found them! Question marks are easy to avoid by moving everything inside lightroom – although it take more time. So if you want to move large amount of files – remove them from your library (not your hard drive) then move them in your hard drive folders and reimport them into Lightroom. Hope that helps.
