Clarifying the Process

Now that we are a few classes into this process, I probably should clarify a few things.  I was so concerned about teaching each step in the process that I neglected to write the steps for a MASTER Digital Supply Conversion Process.  So here goes:

Before Lightroom

  • Organize kits into kit folders by Designer (so one folder for each designer and folders for each kit by designer in designer's folder).
  • Make a list of what inspires you to scrap, your scrapbooking process and how you use your photos, supplies, etc. for use later.

Initial Import of Supplies

  • Set Lightroom Preferences
  • First Import of digital supplies (at this point you will import all JPEG paper files and any PSD files – basically every file type that Lightroom recognizes except for PNG).
  • PNG Conversion to TIF or PSD with Bridge, PSE or Image Converter Plus
  • Import converted files into Lightroom

Keywords

  • Keyword Kits by Designer and Kit
  • Move kit items into respective Designer folder (Batch Rename in Lightroom if necessary)
  • Create your Master Supply Keyword List
  • Keyword items and staying organized as you continue to import into Lightroom

This covers the supply organization process.  There are of course other nuances but this will get you through most of it.  I also highly recommend watching each tutorial for each step in the process so you learn all the tips and tricks.  As this post is being written, the keyword posts are yet to be published (I am leaving you the weekend to catch up on your first import and file conversion).

I highly recommend waiting to keyword until those posts are published as I have some very helpful tips and tricks that will save you time.  Until then, happy importing and file converting!

I will definitely take that into consideration – right now because it is so new, I hesitate to do downloads just in case anything in the curriculum changes… but I will definitely keep you posted. :)
